The LOJ

The 2025-2026 Community Impact Report (C.I.R.)

The Conversation Our Community Has Been Waiting For.

Over the past two and a half years, Canadian Jewry from coast to coast has faced challenges unprecedented in recent memory.

Antisemitism has intensified. Public discourse has become increasingly polarized. Jewish students, families, institutions, and businesses have found themselves navigating a rapidly changing landscape where old assumptions no longer seem to match today’s realities.

At the same time, our community has demonstrated extraordinary resilience, generosity, and resolve.

Yet one question continues to surface across every generation and every corner of the country:

Are we directing our collective efforts where they will have the greatest impact?

Till now decisions have often been guided by assumptions, tradition, or the loudest voices in the room.

The LOJ’s 25-26 Community Impact Report (C.I.R.) represents an opportunity to take a different approach by combining lived experience with meaningful data to better understand what Canadian Jews are actually experiencing, what they need most, and where our collective efforts can achieve the greatest measurable impact.

A Community Snapshot. An Honest Conversation.

The 25-26 C.I.R. captures the authentic perspectives of Jewish Canadians from across the country.  Through 25 carefully developed questions, participants were invited to share their experiences, concerns, priorities, and confidence in the institutions and organizations working on behalf of the community.

Every response was anonymized before analysis to protect participant privacy while ensuring the integrity of the findings.

The result is more than a survey.  It is a national snapshot of community sentiment at one of the most consequential moments in Canadian Jewish history.

Beyond Measuring Problems. Building Better Solutions.

This report is not intended to criticize organizations or revisit familiar challenges.  Its purpose is to identify what is working, where meaningful gaps remain, and how the community can better align its resources, expertise, and leadership to achieve stronger collective outcomes.

Our hope is that these findings encourage:

  • Better informed donor & doer decision-making

  • Stronger collaboration between organizations

  • Greater accountability through organizations establishing measurable outcomes

  • More effective allocation of community resources

  • Increased safety, confidence, and resilience for Jewish Canadians

Because strengthening our community is not about working harder. It is about working smarter, together.

A New Perspective on Community Impact

The LOJ’s 25-26 Community Impact Report (C.I.R.) introduces a fresh lens through which to understand our communal ecosystem.

Rather than relying solely on organizational identity or historical legacy, it encourages thoughtful discussion around demonstrated strengths, measurable outcomes, and opportunities for collaboration.

By recognizing where organizations consistently deliver meaningful impact, and encouraging greater cooperation between legacy institutions, grassroots initiatives, and emerging leaders, we can build an ecosystem where every organization contributes according to its strengths and the community benefits as a whole.

The 2025-26 C.I.R. is only the beginning. It is the essential catalyst to foster constructive, data driven dialogue around the most pressing topics facing our community.  Its true value lies in the conversations it inspires, the partnerships it strengthens, and the actions it informs. Together, we have an opportunity to better understand where we are today, recognize the strengths already within our community, and thoughtfully chart the course toward an even safer, stronger, and more resilient future.

Thank you for being part of this important conversation.

Our role is not simply to identify problems, but to ask better questions, challenge assumptions where appropriate, recognize excellence wherever it exists, and help chart a path toward a safer, stronger, and thriving Jewish community.  That means celebrating what is working, being honest about where we can improve, and encouraging a culture of collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact across the community.

Because the strongest communities are those willing to learn from themselves.
